WELCOME……

HOME AMBASSADORS PROGRAM!

Thank you for read my message to learn more about the challenging projects that we are about to undertake. You are never too young to change the world. It’s a lesson I learned at an early age, and a lesson we hope young people all over the Indonesia will learn through HOME Ambassadors.

It is both fulfilling and rewarding to start a project that requires hands on, hands in participation from young people who want to create lasting change in the lives of others. Through the HOME Ambassadors program, our youths will work toward the Millennium Development Goals, to address the needs of the world’s poorest people. It is hard to believe that there are millions of people who still don’t have access to food, clean water, or medical care. But I am encouraged by the spirit of the young people in the Jakarta who feel the obligation to help their global neighbors. To give of themselves. And to inspire others to do the same.

In december 2008, I read Craig Kielburger story by facebook, who at 17 was already changing the lives of young people around the world. He founded his own organization called Free The Children to help put an end to child labor. He has made a career out of fighting for children’s freedom.

Often people become dismayed at the appalling conditions that exist for people in all places across our planet, and ask why does it have to be this way?

It doesn’t. It just takes a decision and a commitment to make it better.

The HOME Ambassadors program began when HOME (house of mercy ) and youth in Jakarta joined forces to create a school-based program to encourage young people to become active global citizens. The program is inspiring youth in Jakarta to make a difference for their peers in developing countries by working toward the UN Millennium Development Goals.

The HOME Ambassadors program empowers young leaders, educators, parents and the public to dream big and accelerate Jakarta, Indonesia and global change.

The school-based program is a step-by-step exploration of active learning, idea-sharing and taking action. In this program, HOME Ambassadors educators are our partners for change, inspiring youth to find solutions to global challenges.

The primary goals of the HOME Ambassador are to free children from poverty and exploitation and free young people from the notion that they are powerless to affect positive change in the world. Through domestic empowerment programs and leadership training, HOME Ambassador inspires young people to develop as socially conscious global citizens and become agents of change for their peers around the Jakarta, Indonesia and world.

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) focus on four major issues affecting our world today: poverty, education, health and sustainable development. Set for the year 2015, the MDGs are targets agreed upon by world leaders who have all promised to do their part in helping millions of people to break the cycle of poverty. You, too, can do your part to help reach these goals with the HOME Ambassadors program!

The HOME Ambassadors program start 2010. Along the way we have been joined by many young people, coming together to create a global network of children challenging global poverty through their commitment to helping others. So, i hope you can pray for HOME Ambassadors program!

The Millennium Development Goals are a promise to the world that a better future is possible for everyone. These goals empower millions of people with the opportunity to learn, grow and break out of poverty.

World leaders have promised to meet these goals by 2015, but it’s up to everyone to work together to ensure the goals are met. Learn more about the goals and discover ways you can take action to help.
The Millennium Development Goals focus on four major issues:

1. Poverty

Millions of people around the world, young and old, share one dream: to break the cycle of poverty for their children, families and communities.

Today, almost half the world—that’s close to 3 billion people—struggles to survive on less than $2 a day. Their dreams for the future can come true if we all work together to create a better world. With courage, compassion and hope, change is possible.
The Goals

* Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger
* Reduce Child Mortality

2. Education

Everyone agrees that education is a crucial factor in a child’s development. That’s why going to school is a fundamental human right.

But more than 120 million primary school-aged children are not getting the education they deserve. Some are working and some are sick. In many communities, there is no school to begin with.

Without a basic education, children don’t develop the confidence and skills they need to break out of poverty. The chance to go to school is a chance at a better life for children, their families and the world we all share.
The Goals

* Achieve Universal Primary Education
* Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women

3. Health

In the developing world, where serious diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria are widespread, health issues put community development on hold.

For people living in extreme poverty, getting sick isn’t as simple as a quick trip to the doctor or pharmacy—these services are unaffordable or even unavailable in rural areas.

Good health is an empowering force and a major part of the support people need to develop and build their futures.
The Goals

* Improve Maternal Health
* Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases

4. Sustainable Development

Community development isn’t about band-aid solutions. It’s about finding answers that are long-lasting. Answers that help communities grow even stronger over time. A project that’s sustainable empowers community members to begin to meet their own needs.

These projects work in ways that protect the local and global environments. This way, our world can continue to thrive for generations to come.
The Goals

* Ensure Environmental Sustainability
* Develop a Global Partnership for Development
